Role Description

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 1+ year of civil litigation experience to join our Insurance Services Practice Groupe in Orange County, California office. This hybrid role is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to build a sophisticated litigation and insurance coverage practice while working on complex matters across the country.

In this role, you will work with experienced coverage and litigation attorneys on matters involving insurance claims analysis, coverage disputes, and litigation for insurance company clients. The practice includes a wide range of industries and claims, including defective products, mass torts, environmental contamination, habitability, transportation, personal injury, professional liability, and intellectual property.

The ideal candidate has litigation experience, strong research and writing skills, and an interest in analyzing complex insurance policies and coverage-related disputes. Prior insurance coverage experience is helpful, but candidates with strong civil litigation experience and an interest in developing this practice are encouraged to apply.

This position may be based remotely within California or as a hybrid role in one of our California offices.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with all phases of insurance coverage analysis and related civil litigation in both state and federal court.
  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other case-related communications.
  • Support depositions, mediations, hearings, and oral arguments, both remotely and in person.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy, risk evaluation, and client recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status, coverage issues, and litigation developments.
  • Develop practical litigation skills while building a deeper understanding of complex insurance coverage issues.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an attorney who is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and interested in developing a strong insurance coverage and litigation practice. Successful candidates will also bring:

Qualifications

  • Active bar license in California
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
