Our Client is seeking an Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation with a minimum of 2 years of dedicated civil litigation experience to join its Albuquerque, New Mexico office. The ideal candidate will have experience independently managing litigation matters, developing case strategy, drafting sophisticated pleadings and motions, conducting and defending depositions, handling discovery, and communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, and courts. Compensation: $110,000-$170,000+ Per Year
Key Responsibilities
Manage civil litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution.
Develop and execute effective litigation strategies based on legal research, evidence, and case-specific analysis.
Draft and file motions, briefs, pleadings, discovery responses, and other complex legal documents.
Prepare for, conduct, and defend depositions.
Conduct comprehensive legal research and apply relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
Analyze factual and legal issues and identify potential risks, opportunities, and strategic approaches.
Communicate directly with clients and effectively manage client expectations.
Work with opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other legal professionals throughout the litigation process.
Independently manage assigned caseloads while collaborating with partners, senior attorneys, and colleagues.
Maintain accurate case organization, documentation, deadlines, and litigation calendars.
Support trial preparation and participate in trial proceedings when required.
Leverage technology and emerging AI-driven legal tools to improve research, analysis, drafting, and workflow efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Minimum of 2 years of dedicated civil litigation experience.
Demonstrated experience handling civil litigation matters independently.
Strong experience with motion practice, legal research, pleadings, and discovery.
Hands-on experience conducting or defending depositions.
Strong legal analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop and execute sound case strategies.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative legal team.
Active license to practice law in New Mexico or eligibility to obtain and maintain the required New Mexico bar admission.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior hands-on trial experience is highly preferred.
Active bar licenses in multiple states are a strong plus.
Experience handling complex or high-value civil litigation.
Familiarity with AI-powered legal research, document review, or litigation technology.
Strong interest in developing toward a long-term partnership-track position.
