TheArchitectural Designer shall provide engineering services supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design services, when required by the customer, to include design calculations, prepare layouts, prepare detailed specifications, and prepare parts lists and estimates.
Shall design, when the customer requires, an idea or rough sketch of a desired concept into practical items of equipment that can be economically manufactured.
Provide information on the required parts which includes material composition, dimensions, electrical and safety characteristics, possible procurement sources, and cost information.
Produce workable designs from rough sketches or verbal descriptions that include, but are not limited to, the design of mechanical components related to high-speed rotating machinery, the design of lightweight structures involving sophisticated manufacturing and assembly procedures, knowledge of the application of aerospace materials typically used in turbine and ramjet engine construction, design of hardware for high pressure and high-temperature application, design of control and measurement instrumentation for process monitoring and control, design of electronic noise shielding and design of high power and high voltage protection, and design of laboratory space.
Ensure that all tasks are designed for ease of maintenance, assembly, and reliability.
Assist in providing a deliverable in support of future contractual efforts for fabrication, modification, or installation of research equipment or facilities supporting research efforts.
Maintain all designs and related engineering information that shall be developed using the appropriate CAD/CAE or Microsoft Office Platform software.
Complete annual company and customer-required training, as required.
Complete timesheets daily in an online system according to company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
Associate degree in an engineering field from an Accreditation Board for ABET-accredited engineering program required
8+ years of technical experience required
Background check and Public Trust/NACI required to start
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient with CAD/CAE or Microsoft Office Platform software.
Advanced working knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to comply with applicable codes and standards of contract.
Ability to pass customer security requirements required.
Ability to attend all customer in-person meetings and conferences as required.
Ability to self-start and work independently or as a team.
Ability to interact verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, government personnel, and management professionally.
Possess strong problem-solving skills.
Travel up to 10% as required.
