Job description

Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Department: Respiratory
Location: Unity Hospital | 1555 Long Pond Rd | Rochester, NY 14626
Hours Per Week: 36
Schedule: 12 hour shifts - Rotating shift - Days: 7a - 730p Nights: 7p - 730a. - Every other weekend; No on-call
SUMMARY
Provide assessment, therapy, equipment, assistance, education, and problem resolution to all customers at Unity Heath System during assigned shift in all aspects of respiratory care. Provide superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Possess, maintain, and deliver high clinical standards in the assessment, administration, education, and observation of respiratory therapy as ordered by Providers.
  • Demonstrates continued competency on all current respiratory therapy modalities and equipment in all patient care areas of the hospital including both acute and sub acute care.
  • Actively participate in current and continuing education and development of respiratory care, including new employee orientation. Actively participate in regularly scheduled intradepartmental meetings.
  • Assist in expansion of clinical care policies, procedures, and protocols. Provides consistency in the application of those objectives. Actively participate and support department improvement, expansion, growth, objectives, and goals.
  • Supports the on-going evaluation, in-servicing, and purchasing of both new and existing equipment and supplies, providing input into departmental selection and function to ensure appropriate usage, inventory, and cost effectiveness.
  • Supports respiratory rotations and clinical observations from multiple agencies and disciplines, including but not limited to respiratory, nursing, emergency response, exploring, and high school programs.
  • Responsible to actively serve and participate in one intradepartmental respiratory committee. Participates on other committees as requested by Respiratory Leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates of Applied Science in health care related field
  • NYS License as a Respiratory Therapist (RT)
    OR
    NYS License as Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) with NBRC active credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • RESPIRATORY THERAPY GRADUATES: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
    NYS License as a Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) and must obtain NBRC credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within one year of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrate clinical excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Recent acute care experience preferred.
