SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) - School Staff Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care to students and staff in the school district. The RN promotes health and safety, supports student learning, and collaborates with families, educators, and community partners. This role is guided by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Scope and Standards of Practice and the Arizona Nurse Practice Act. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS)
  • Current, active and in good standing, and unencumbered Arizona Registered Nurse license. Compact license may be considered; if the candidate is a resident of Arizona, they must seek a home compact state licensure in Arizona.
  • Clinical experience in pre-licensure program may be considered, experience in any nursing specialty.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association, American Red
  • Cross, Health and Safety Institute, etc.) OR First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from a recognized provider.
  • Valid Driver's License (Must obtain Arizona Driver's license within 30 days of hire)
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card (apply at AZDPS FCC Form Triage)
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
  • Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for AHCCCS Provider ID Number
  • Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver's License required within 30 days of hire)
  • Must hold a current Driver's license and reliable personal vehicle with insurance coverage greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
  • Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by the TUSD Risk Management Department
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher
  • At least two (2) years of pediatric, public health, or school nursing experience.
  • Arizona State Certification in Vision and Hearing Screening

COMMENTS
Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: Health Services - Multiple Sites - District Wide
FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
