Job description

Introduction
As an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real business and technology challenges for clients around the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, build in-demand technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects while learning in a collaborative, team-based environment.
This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation.
In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting FutureNow Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
At IBM, you'll learn from experienced technology professionals while gaining hands-on experience with modern software development and consulting practices.
During your internship in the IBM Technology & Red Hat practice, you may have opportunities to:
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams to learn how requirements are understood and technical solutions are shaped, while contributing to project activities under guidance.
• Support Solution Design & Documentation: Assist experienced team members with technical specifications and documentation of design decisions, building an understanding of effective technical communication and collaboration.
• Contribute to High-Quality Software: Write, test, and improve code for assigned components under guidance, and learn through code reviews and established software quality practices.
• Develop Modern Applications: Contribute to IBM and Red Hat-based application modernization, hybrid cloud, automation, and enterprise integration projects, gaining exposure to cloud-native and full-stack development, Red Hat technologies, databases, operating systems, cloud platforms, and modern UI frameworks.
As part of the IBM Technology & Red Hat practice, your assignments will focus on application modernization, hybrid cloud, automation, enterprise integration, and Red Hat technologies. Specific project activities will be matched to business needs, your academic background, technical skills, project experience, and career interests.
You don't need experience with every technology listed. Many interns join IBM with a foundation in computer science, software engineering, or related technical disciplines and develop specialized expertise through mentorship, structured learning, certifications, hands-on projects, and AI-enabled tools.
Throughout your internship, you'll gain exposure to software engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), DevOps, Agile, and enterprise application development, while working with experienced engineers, architects, and technology professionals on real client projects across multiple industries.
We're not looking for experts; we hire for potential, curiosity, and a passion for learning.
High-performing interns may be considered for full-time Associate opportunities following graduation, based on business needs and individual performance.
To give yourself the best opportunity for success, we advise applying only to roles that align with your skills and experience, rather than applying broadly across all entry-level positions. You'll receive a status update email for each application, so be sure to check your IBM Careers account regularly - it's the best way to get a centralized view of which roles you have active applications against.
