Job description

Proof of the Pudding has spent the past four decades providing innovative menus, services, design expertise and event experiences to clients throughout Atlanta and beyond. As a preferred caterer to over 50 venues in and around Atlanta, our Off-Premise team spearheads event innovations and culinary experiences to a range of events from weddings, holiday parties, corporate retreats, and social gatherings.
We are seeking additional Kitchen Stewards to join the Off-Premise Catering team headquartered from the corporate office in West Midtown Atlanta. Stewards are responsible for a wide range of tasks to help ensure efficient overall operations of the changing event logistics and business needs. Work assignments and tasks can change daily based on the immediate needs of the event calendar.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
  • Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
  • Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift.
  • Properly washes, stacks, and stores china, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers.
  • Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required by business levels, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by EcoLab.
  • Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.
  • Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift.
  • Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing the china room and warehouse.
  • Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties.
  • Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed.

Performs other related duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
  • 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred, experience in customer service role is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServSafe Certified preferred.

Work Environment
This position will be stationed out of Proof's corporate office located in West Midtown. This position will spend the majority of time in the kitchen and dish pit area where there will be hot water, chemicals, and typical kitchen equipment and utensils.
Uniform Requirements

Non-slip shoes are necessary.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, moving through a kitchen, coolers, and storage spaces.
  • Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
  • Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
  • Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
