With a growing community of over 70 million people and a monthly viewership of over 500 million, our videos deeply impact lives across the globe. Each one is made to help people recognize their potential, make the tough choices required to change, and live the impossible.

About Unseen:

Unseen is a documentary-style true crime series from Goalcast, that amplifies the strength of survivors. We go beyond the crime to showcase their powerful journeys of survival and healing, highlighting their resilience. With over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube, our channel continues to reach and inspire a global audience through unseen cases.

Job Overview:

Are you the friend who constantly geeks out over everything movie related, from the newest blockbusters to the timeless classics? Do you overanalyze why a specific scene transition worked so well, or call a plot twist (or a jumpscare!), minutes before it actually happens just by listening to the music of a movie? If you love the puzzle of piecing together complex stories, and building something that hooks people instantly, we want to hear from you.

The creative team at Unseen is expanding, and we're on the lookout for a Video Editor who loves all things media, from YouTube deep-dives to cinematic documentaries. If you're incredibly creative, have an interest in true crime, and want to use your editing skills to tell stories that actually matter, we'd love for you to join us.

We are looking for a Video Editor to join our team - someone who loves telling stories, is passionate about editing, and wants their creativity to reach millions of people.

Check out our content here: https://www.youtube.com/@unseentruecrime - facebook.com/watch.unseen - instagram.com/unseentruecrime. This position is offered as a freelance contract, with the opportunity for a permanent full-time role if it's a good fit. Priority will be given to North American applicants.

What you will be working on:
  • Edit and direct 20 to 30-minute true crime short documentaries.
  • Collaborate daily with the Unseen team, and lead project contributors (researchers, voiceover actors, other editors, etc.) as needed.
  • Tell stories with sensitivity, rigor, and accuracy, while staying aligned with current trends and your team's ideas.
  • Participate in the packaging and distribution of your project across all platforms (YouTube, Spotify, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.).
What we're looking for:
  • Narrative Experience: A passion for video editing, media production, or content creation; you know how to bring a story to life and evoke strong emotions.
  • Curiosity: Always on top of trends with a strong interest in analyzing and understanding what makes content go viral.
  • Passion: You believe in the power of stories that inspire and provoke change. You want to make a difference with your storytelling.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other post-production tools.
  • Creativity: A great eye (and ear) for music and b-roll, combined with a deep sensitivity to emotion.
  • Excellence: Ability to deliver high-quality content in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Know how to drive your own project from start to finish while successfully multitasking.
  • Team Player: Thrives on feedback and collaboration: you are genuinely excited about building something great as a team.

Requirements

  • North American based candidates only (International applications will not be considered).
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Film/TV production or Post-Production is an asset, but not required.
  • Work experience in the world of social media is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Scriptwriting experience is an asset.
  • Mastery of Adobe software (Premiere Pro and After Effects).
  • A portfolio! Show us your work!
