Qualifications: 1. Minimum three years of successful experience in school finance and supervision.
2. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
3. Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and presentation skills.
4. Proficient in the use of Office, Google, and other productivity tools.
5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, school administrators, teachers, and support staff, as well as with stakeholders including families, governmental agencies, and the business community.
6. Highly-motivated, results-driven, self-starter who needs little supervision in his/her work to achieve district goals.
Definition: The Assistant Treasurer assists the Treasurer/CFO in managing the financial operations of the school district, ensuring compliance with Ohio public school finance laws, and supervising daily accounting and office functions.
Essential Functions:
  • Acts as lead person in overseeing the day to day operations of the Treasurer's Office
  • Maintains thorough understanding of all job functions performed in Treasurer's Office
  • Stays apprised of accounting standards, school law, auditor's rulings and computer software changes affecting Treasurer's Office operations.
  • Assists Treasurer in revenue estimates, cash flow analysis, bank transactions, and investment planning
  • Completes monthly closing and fiscal year end closing processes
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Assists in preparing and managing annual budget and appropriations, monitoring individual funds and line items as needed, analyzing variances, and resolving problems in accounts
  • Makes recommendations to the Treasurer regarding development and implementation of proper internal control and accounting procedures
  • Collaborates with the Treasurer to prepare annual financial report in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Provides timely assistance to auditors during annual audit of cash and GAAP statements
  • Coordinates with the Treasurer to promptly respond to public requests for information
  • In absence of the Treasurer, serve as secretary to the Board of Education
  • Assist Treasurer in long range financial forecasting
  • Responsible for maintaining all district accounting records as prescribed by the auditor of state
  • Other duties as assigned by the Treasurer

Additional Working Conditions
1. Duties are primarily performed in a standard office environment with frequent computer use and prolonged sitting;
2. Occasional travel between district buildings may be required; and
3. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
