ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, systemย integrationย and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems.ย We are seeking aย Senior Project Support/Senior Federal Travel Help Desk Specialistย to provide expert level supportย toย a NASA contract inย Wallops Island, VA.ย ย 

Jobย Description:ย 

The Senior Federal Travel Help Desk Specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting NASA travel programs by providing comprehensive travelย assistanceย to government and contractor personnel throughout the entire travel lifecycle.ย ย 

This position functions as a primary point of contact for travelers, travel arrangers, approving officials, and financial personnel by resolving complex travel issues, interpreting travel regulations, andย providingย expert guidanceย regardingย authorizations, reservations, vouchers, reimbursements, and travel system functionality.ย 

Work Reporting Location:ย This position will begin as fully remote. Candidates must beย locatedย within a reasonable commuting distance of a NASA center, as the role is expected to transition to primarily in-office work based on program needs.ย 

Responsibilities:ย ย 

  • Travel Policy & Regulatory Guidanceย onย NASA policy directives, NASA Procedural Requirements, and federal travel regulations.ย 

  • Help Desk Operationsย 

  • Travel Authorization Supportย for travelers, including but not limitedย toย per diem eligibility,ย travel documentation & justification, lodging, and transportation.ย 

  • Travel Voucher Support to ensure compliance with federal regulations, allowable and non-allowable expenses,ย and guidance on returned travel vouchers.ย 

  • Travel Systems Supportย withย ConcurGovย (CGE) and Go.govย 

  • Process Improvement toย assistย with job aid development, FAQs, training materials, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).ย 

  • Communicating travel policy updates.ย ย 

  • Customer Service Excellence.ย 

  • Additionalย duties as assigned.ย ย 

Requirements:ย 

  • Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job. Some travel may beย required.ย 

  • Comprehensive knowledge ofย Federal Travel Regulation (FTR).ย 

  • Experienceย withย supportingย NASA travel operations,ย NASA travel managementย systemsย and financial processes,ย coordinating international scientific or programmatic travel.ย 

  • Familiarity withย Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC)ย andย NASA Center travel office operations.ย 

  • Proficiencyย withย Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams),ย Help Desk ticketing systems, Knowledge Management systems, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and Virtual Meeting platforms.ย 

Desired:ย ย 

  • Certifications inย Certified Government Travel Professional (CGTP), Global Travel Professional (GTP)ย 

Education and Experience:ย 

Education -ย Bachelor's degree: Equivalent combination of education and federal travel experience may be substituted.ย 

Experience-ย 

  • Four or more years of progressively responsible experience supporting federal government travel programs.ย 

  • Extensive experience interpreting and applying the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR).ย 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting federal travel help desk operations.ย 

  • Experience resolving complex travel authorization and voucher issues.ย 

  • Experience supporting high-volume federal customer service environments.ย
