Job description

Overview: Learns to deliver NAFO training classes through cross-training and self-study. Responsibilities will include instructing SMITH Driving, HSE Training, Velocity (formerly AFM) Training, and providing hands-on LOTO and PM training at our Victoria Training Center. Expected to deliver lower-level courses e.g. compressor valves, alignment, basic compression. This position serves as a stepping stone to the Intermediate Trainer role, which leads Quick Wrench and field training from our comprehensive catalog of hands-on field training programs nationwide.

Skills and Abilities: 

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel up to 70% of time.

Proficiency with:

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge:

  • Recognized as Subject Matter Expert in compression operations and compressor technical topics (explicit knowledge and skill across package types).
  • Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques used for adult education is preferred.

Minimum Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record and ability to drive a light truck for an extended number of hours a day, several times per week.

Minimum Experience:

  • Typically at least 10 years experience in a Field Service Technician and/or Service Manager role.
  • Experience that brings the tacit knowledge needed to specialize and to qualify for stepping into a training and development role.

Leadership:

  • No leadership responsibilities.

  • Must be able to travel 25% - 50%.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, use PC and talk or hear.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds may be required.
  • Occasional travel to field locations.  Standing and walking in hot or cold conditions.

Essential Duties:

  • Host NAFO
  • Deliver instructor-led training of the company's basic compressor and engine courses.
  • Deliver training to audiences, along with subject matter experts at times.  Training sessions include classroom and one-on-one coaching.
  • Maintain training schedule.
  • Assist in creating new training material/topics and updating training as needed.
  • Stay in close contact with supervisors to ensure training meets expectations.
  • Ensure that materials and the training room (on-site or at a remote site) are in order and set up prior to class.
  • Assist with implementing training certification plans.
  • Interface with field management to help develop training strategies.

Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
