Job description

Make a difference at Hawaii Job Corps Center!  We are seeking candidates for On-Call Recreation Advisor positions.
Starting Wage is $18.50/hour 

Schedule may include: Evenings, Weekends, & Holidays
POSITION SUMMARY:
Recreation is responsible for monitoring, planning, and directing students engaged in center sponsored activities both on and off center. Put your fun and creative skills to use to teach healthy and fun extracurricular activities! 

Duties include, but not limited to:

  1. Assist recreation supervisor/coordinator in planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program which will attract voluntary participation.
  2. Organize, direct, and oversee student participation in a variety of recreation/avocation activities and extended day learning activities.
  3. Plan, implement and coordinate a diversified program that will attract voluntary participation. 
  4. Chaperone students to recreation functions both on and off center. 
  5. Plan and conduct various activities to enhance student retention and meet all students' needs. 
  6. Participate in Career Development Services System (CDSS) by creating positive peer leadership and role modeling techniques through activities both on and off center. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year experience working with youth required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Computer proficiency

Located in Waimanalo, Oahu & Makawa’o Maui, our campus is home to 300+ young adults, ages 16-24, who have made the decision to come to Job Corps in order to improve their lives. Every staff member is part of teaching the students the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers.
A Job Corps campus is like a mini-college. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.
