Job description

Position: Controller/Business Analyst
Reports to: CFO
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Type: Exempt
Summary: The Controller is responsible for the oversight of accounting, inventory management, and the development and execution of the business intelligence system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Accounting
  • Monthly preparation and compilation of financial statements.
  • Monthly bank package preparation including borrowing base certificate, covenant compliance, and supporting narrative.
  • Oversight of Stein Family Partnership financial statements.
  • Quarterly tax estimates for Stein Garden Centers and related partnerships.
  • Monitor online banking, cash management transactions, and cash flow reporting.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Specific financial project analyses as directed by the CFO.
  • In collaboration with the CFO, develop and monitor key financial metrics.
  • Oversight of fixed asset accounting.
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating budgets.

Inventory Management
  • Oversight of annual physical inventory at all locations including training of inventory teams.
  • Management and oversight of inventory processes at the store locations, including cycle count program, freight, and inventory reserve allocations.

Business Intelligence System
  • Analyze production, inventory control, distribution, cost analysis, finance, marketing, human resources, and other business functions in order to develop new or modified information processing systems.
  • Consult with company personnel to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements.
  • Dashboard and reporting development and design
  • Ongoing maintenance of database cubes, training, and education of end users.

Employment Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of corporate business experience
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including PowerPivot), and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Must possess skills/experience in information technology and data management.
  • Must possess the ability to interact professionally with many levels within the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Strong logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
