Assistant Controller

SUMMARY
Responsible for leading the organization's general accounting and financial reporting functions, including financial statement preparation, account review, internal controls, audit support, and team leadership, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the General Accounting team. Develop and train accounting staff regarding accounting, reporting, and internal control requirements.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for all entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Manage the intercompany accounting processes with affiliated companies.
  • Responsible for complete review of balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Research, interpret, and implement accounting policies and ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting standards.
  • Lead the audit process by delegating duties, reviewing, preparing documents and working with auditors.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting policies and internal controls and recommend improvements to strengthen financial processes and mitigate risk.
  • Support and optimize the organization's financial systems including SAP S/4HANA, consolidation tools, SAC, and related reporting applications. Assist with design changes, blueprinting, and testing within those systems.
  • Support treasury activities, including cash forecasting, banking relationships, and compliance with financing agreements.
  • Manage the accounting processes related to capital expenditure for the entire organization.
  • Support the annual budget, forecast, and financial planning processes by providing accounting guidance, financial analysis, and reporting support.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives, including process documentation, standardization, and automation opportunities.
  • Act as a delegate for the Controller as needed and provide leadership support across the accounting and finance organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises general accounting staff and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, coaching, and development of a high-performing team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and reviewing work; conducting performance evaluations; recognizing and rewarding performance; addressing employee concerns; resolving problems; and administering corrective action if necessary. Partners with team members and business stakeholders to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and support organizational objectives.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7 -10 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, general ledger, month-end close, audit management, and internal controls. CPA designation required. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience required. Experience in manufacturing, financial consolidations, SAP S/4Hana systems strongly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Certified Public Account (CPA) required
