SUMMARY

Reporting into the Senior Vice President, Shoring & Foundations, the Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and day-to-day coordination of infrastructure construction projects. This role plays a critical part in project operations and performance, working closely with clients, site teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for assisting with project monitoring, technical planning, risk assessments, and closeout procedures to ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE

Project Execution & Operational Support

  • Support day-to-day project execution to ensure construction aligns strictly with design specifications, budgets, and project schedules.

  • Monitor overall project performance, including schedule tracking, cost management, equipment allocation, and material deliveries.

  • Assist with technical and logistical planning to organize and execute work on active and congested construction sites.

  • Coordinate project closeout procedures and complete required documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Participate in and lead routine meetings with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and third parties.

  • Implement communication plans, including crisis communications and community outreach to local residents.

  • Interface with traffic and environmental teams to coordinate site impacts and environmental consultation requirements.

Risk Management & Quality Control

  • Inspect active project sites regularly to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety policies.

  • Identify potential project risks and opportunities, helping prepare cost and schedule impact assessments for change orders.

  • Ensure adherence to company standards, safety protocols, and quality control procedures across all site operations.

Team Coordination & Guidance

  • Provide guidance, performance tracking, and support to site personnel, junior staff, and team members.

  • Promote a collaborative, safety-focused culture across the project team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of project management or project coordination experience in construction.

  • EIT or CET professional designation is preferred.

  • Experience on deep foundation, Support of Excavation (SOE), or AFP/P3 Design-Build projects is an asset.

  • Hands-on experience assisting with planning, logistics, staging, and site coordination for active construction projects.

  • Familiarity with schedule monitoring, cost tracking, risk identification, and change order preparation.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong decision-making, time management, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid Driver's License required for site visits.
