As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging Inc. is recruiting for a Senior Technical Leader to join our team in Waterloo !

What you'll do

The Space & Defense group develops both full custom and semi-custom image sensors, focal plane arrays, and cameras for Airborne & Space applications. As the Technical Leader of one or more projects, you will be responsible for their overall technical success by ensuring the final product meets customer specifications, and ensuring technical risk is managed/mitigated. Working hand-in-hand with the Project Manager, you will lead a team that may include sensor/electronics/mechanical design specialists, process engineers, and test specialists. The Technical Leader must also interact with other Teledyne groups including manufacturing, purchasing, and CMOS development.

What you need

  • Broad knowledge of systems engineering, process engineering, electronics design, mechanical design, and optics

  • Understanding of semiconductor theory and CMOS image sensors

  • Must be a strong team player, as well as be able to work independently

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Report writing is essential.

  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Reliability engineering

  • Experience preparing & revising technical reports and project documents

  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience (engineering, electronics, sensors, optics, software) with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience.

  • At least 5 years of design/development experience

  • Strong, proven experience leading/managing a technical project and driving technology development

  • Proven experience working within a large multidisciplinary team and excellent communication skills are required

  • Experience evaluating risk and driving change

  • Experience providing customer with technical guidance with support from technical experts

  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • Eligible for Controlled Goods Security Clearance

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience with ECSS and MIL standards

  • Eligible for Controlled Goods security clearance

  • Strong Technical Program Management experience

  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • Experience leading junior designers and test specialists

  • Experience with the Space systems

  • Experience with CCD/CMOS image sensors or cameras
