RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has partnered with an innovative technology organization in Indianapolis, IN that is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to guide the development, modernization, and long-term evolution of a mission-critical software platform.
Summary:
This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys balancing architecture, engineering leadership, team mentorship, and strategic technology initiatives. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders while helping shape the future direction of a highly visible platform that supports a large and growing user base.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
* Technical Lead will drive architectural decisions and technical direction for complex software applications
* Partner with product and business leaders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
* Guide modernization efforts within an existing application ecosystem
* Review code, establish engineering best practices, and improve development processes
* As a Technical Lead, you will support delivery planning, prioritization, and execution of key initiatives
* Collaborate with distributed teams and external development partners
* Assist with hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent
* Promote quality, reliability, performance, and maintainability across the platform
REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years of software engineering experience
* Prior experience serving as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, or similar leadership role
* Experience leading development teams in Agile environments
* Experience working within large, complex application environments
* Strong background designing and developing enterprise-scale applications
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience leading modernization or transformation initiatives
* Experience working with distributed or global engineering teams
* Experience balancing hands-on technical contributions with team leadership responsibilities
* Background supporting customer-facing software platforms
* Exposure to cloud technologies and modern software architecture patterns
* Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and software quality best practices
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
