Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Athletics is seeking a full-time Assistant Coach for its Women's Basketball program. Carnegie Mellon has a world-renowned reputation, and its core values reflect its commitment to hiring and retaining individuals with diverse talents, perspectives, and experiences. A national research university, Carnegie Mellon is a member of the NCAA Division III and the University Athletic Association.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Experience with identifying and recruiting potential student-athletes.
  • Assist with skill instruction, motivation, and the ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach, including planning and implementation.
  • Utilizing Fast Model and Synergy Sports for opponent scouting, film
  • analysis/breakdown, and game preparation.
  • Implementing and executing player development plans
  • Responsibilities will include home event management and teaching in the physical education program.
  • Mentor and support student-athletes in their academic progress, leadership development, and overall well-being.
  • Support the women's basketball strength and conditioning program.
  • Coordinating logistics and itineraries for team travel.
  • Ability to work outside the normal business hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1-3 years of collegiate coaching experience preferred or experience as a successful collegiate competitor
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check

  • Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)

  • Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)

Additional Information:

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
