Job description

Pennoni is hiring for aSurvey Division Managerto join our team on a full-time, direct basis in a leadership role at our office inRaleigh, NC.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide management & administrative support services for a variety of surveying (e.g.: boundary, title , ALTA, topographic, aerial, etc.) as well as related operations: utility locations (including pipe inverts & sizes), utility surveys, wetland location surveys, construction layout, and Right-of-Way (R/W) surveys.
  • Review, approve, and seal technical documents (including calculations & drawings).
  • Perform Quality Assurance / Quality Control [QA/QC] review of all survey documents (including survey plans, record plots, legal descriptions, and construction layout services).
  • Perform project site visits and/or periodic field observation, as required.
  • Provide guidance to all internal departments regarding survey-related project barriers.
  • Track the financial performance of the group.
  • Communicate with clients regularly; this includes generating new work.
  • Assist with A/R: billing clients, collecting debts, etc.
  • Assist with Marketing / New Business Development efforts, especially with preparation of proposals.
  • Assist with the development of marketing strategies.
  • Maintain understanding of / expertise with relevant technologies.
  • Train employees from all levels within the team.
  • Travel and work in field occasionally (as needed).
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

Basic Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional experience working in Field / Land Surveying.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in land surveying project management.
  • Active Professional Land Surveyor's [PLS] credential in NC.

This person will be expected to work occasionally in the field, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in Surveying Technology or a related technical field of study; a degree is a plus!
  • Proven expertise with modern Survey methods, best practices, and technologies.
  • Proficiency with relevant technologies / tools (e.g.: CADD, Total Stations, HDLS, GIS, etc.); experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, RTS (Robotic Total Stations), GPS, and Leica Geosystems HW & SW is preferred (additional exposure to Faro High-Definition Laser Scanning equipment is a plus!).
  • Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications, especially with MS-Excel.
  • Proven ability to manage projects effectively, multitask, and prioritize workflow to satisfy multiple project schedules, deadlines, and budgets simultaneously.
  • Exceptional client and contractor relationship management skills; entrepreneurial experience is a plus!
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills, especially in conjunction with being responsive to the needs of clients.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking, prioritizing multiple assignments, and delegating tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
