Project Surveyor
Job Summary:
The Project Surveyor is primarily responsible for transferring and processing data between the office and the field, directing field personnel, and working with the Survey Project Manager to progress projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work with Survey Project Manager to organize field schedule, prepare worksheets and points, and manage field personnel. Perform complex survey work, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and ALTA/title surveys.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers and other stakeholders to understand survey requirements and objectives.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, plats, and worksheets.
  • Perform research for title documents, and review title commitments for initial and/or final surveys.
  • Maintain records of office documents and final surveys and of completed fieldwork.
  • Create legal descriptions and exhibits in multiple states.
  • Take active approach to as-built survey documents working with reviewers, contractors, engineers, and surveyors.
  • Understand, operate and maintain survey equipment, including but not limited to robotic total stations, Base and Rover GPS, data collectors and software.
  • Perform duties of a Lead Field Technician as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, best practices and regulations related to surveying techniques and technology.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or technical schooling in surveying and professional licensure is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in surveying field software
  • Hands-on experience with surveying instruments and equipment
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing survey practices
  • 10-15 years of professional surveying experience preferred
  • Proven experience performing ALTA/title, boundary, and topographic surveys, as well as construction layout
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout North Carolina from a residence near Durham or Raleigh
  • Driver's License required

Physical Requirements:
  • Persons need to be able to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas.
  • Persons must be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, sleet).
  • Persons must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to twenty-five (25) pounds independently and fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
  • Travel may be required to assist other properties as needed, attend training classes, business meetings, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all the daily responsibilities of this position.
