About the position

The Land Surveyor role is a senior-level hybrid leadership position responsible for overseeing survey field operations while also managing projects from initiation through final deliverable. This role bridges field execution and office coordination, ensuring technical accuracy, operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and team development.

This position serves as both a senior field leader and project manager, responsible for directing complex boundary, topographic, construction, and specialty survey projects. The role requires advanced technical expertise, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to lead crews in the field while also managing budgets, schedules, client communication, and internal coordination with CAD and project teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are understood and met

  • Coordinate and schedule with other stakeholders such as engineers, architects, and contractors to achieve project goals.

  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and stored appropriately.

  • Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and clients.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to surveying staff.

  • Lead complex survey projects and ensure timely delivery.

  • Operate a wide range of advanced surveying instruments, assisting with training of junior crew members.

  • Dedication to continued learning of advancements with new survey equipment.

  • Ensure accurate data collection.

  • Make decisions in the field regarding survey strategies.

  • Coordinate with office staff to ensure data consistency.

  • Interpret and follow surveying plans and specifications.

  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Prepare and organize field notes and documentation.

  • Adhere to and enforce safety standards and protocols in the field.

  • Provide input and feedback on field procedures and project progress.

  • Ensure quality control and adherence to industry standards.

  • Liaise with clients and office staff on project requirements, addressing issues in a timely manner

  • Analyze complex survey data and provide recommendations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5-7 years of surveying experience, with a proven track record in leadership roles.

  • Competent in all categories (houseline, construction, survey), with expertise in at least one preferred.

  • Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.

  • Must possess and maintain a driving record that meets the eligibility standards of the company’s auto insurance provider to ensure insurability while operating company vehicles.

  • PLS license preferred.

Pay:
