Job description

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR

University of Alabama at Birmingham 

The Department of Surgery, Pediatric Division has an open Administrative Supervisor position.

General Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees and operations in a designed area.

  • Responsible for employee training, auditing, product or service quality control, establishing productivity standards, performance issues, staffing, payroll and other matters associated with the productivity and operations of assigned area.

  • Handles confidential information and issues.

  • May have grant and budgetary responsibilities.

  • Supervises the work of, but does not perform, the same duties as subordinate personnel.

  • May have some administrative assistant duties and manage compliance/regulatory processes.

  • May act as a liaison to leadership and/or as human resources officer for department

Additional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading/supervising the daily and ongoing work for a team of employees in the operation of the division with ensuring that the division's goals and objections are satisfied.

  • Along with supporting the division director and other team members, this includes assigning daily tasks, follow-up on assignments, meeting schedules and activities taking place in the division.

  • Working with the division director on scheduled activities for their daily, weekly , monthly along with any annual dates, to meet scheduling dates and deadlines for the division.

  • Responsible for planning employee training, scheduling and auditing, product or service quality control, establishing productivity standards, performance issues, staffing, payroll/timekeeping and other matters associated with the productivity and operations of assigned area.

  • This includes ensuring that employees are providing good customer service to both internal and external customers .

  • Responsible for maintaining division/department confidential information.

  • Work with the director in securing and gathering information for development of division budgets, which includes application for grant and other budgetary duties.

  • Maintain employee time scans, which includes gathering and approving weekly/bi-weekly time/hours, housed in time keeping system and ensuring all scheduled time off is approved timely, along with other payroll related activities .

  • Responsible for interacting with external clients/constituents with the collection of information needed to ensure the proper management is in place to support compliance/regulatory processes.

  • Supporting and preparing employees when representing the division to both internal and external customers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $45,395 - $73,770

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
