Job Description
Summary:
This role requires strong analytical skills and design expertise within a subsea engineering environment. The Subsea Valve Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Vendors, Clients, and Project Managers. The primary responsibility is to design, analyze, and support subsea valve systems throughout their lifecycle using appropriate engineering tools and practices. Participation in design reviews, project meetings, and interface discussions will be required to ensure the technical integrity of valve systems delivered for subsea oil and gas applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop subsea valves based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Identify and implement design improvements to address field issues and enhance reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide technical solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Support prototype fabrication and assist in testing and validation of valve designs.
  • Interpret client specifications to ensure valve designs meet all technical requirements.
  • Generate manufacturing and client-facing drawings, including assemblies and schematics.
  • Review and verify engineering drawings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Create supporting documentation such as material specs, design notes, and test plans.
  • Perform engineering calculations to confirm mechanical and hydraulic design integrity.
  • Develop and maintain installation, operation, and maintenance (IOM) documentation.
  • Ensure design deliverables are complete, consistent, and aligned with project standards.
  • Comply with and promote company HSE procedures and engineering practices.
  • Share engineering knowledge, tools, and best practices across teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
  • Support FAT, SIT, and field commissioning of subsea valves.
  • Coordinate with materials and supply chain teams on material selection.
  • Ensure designs meet API 6A, 17D, ISO 13628, and other relevant standards.
  • Apply design-to-cost and value engineering to improve efficiency.
  • Assist with third-party certifications and technical audits.
  • Review and approve vendor components for compliance and fit.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of engineering deliverables.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years of engineering experience are required.
  • Must be flexible and able to work autonomously as well as under direction.
  • Engineering experience in mechanical and hydraulic design of subsea valves or similar subsea equipment is required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with MS Office or similar software is required.
  • Experience with CAD in generating solid models, drawings, and schematics is required.
  • Must have the ability to produce complex technical design layouts and proposals.
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with changing priorities is necessary.
