Description:

This position serves as an assistant in the Spiritual Life Department in conjunction with the Director of Spiritual Life. Duties include providing administrative support, telephone calls and emails, registering and welcoming guests, as well as assisting in general building cleanliness and maintenance. Acting as a hospitable host/hostess for the guests in the Pastoral Respite Ministry is also an essential function of this position. This position requires the employee to live on campus.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Pastoral Respite Program

  1. Support the Spiritual Life Center, staff, and center coverage.
  2. Meet and greet incoming pastoral respite guests.
  3. Ensure rooms are ready for guests prior to check in, including Survey cards.
  4. Be familiar and have a working knowledge of the MAESTRO Reservation System.
  5. Monitor the cleanliness of the Brookside and Trinity buildings.
  6. Assist the Director in guests, scheduling the arrival and the departures of the guests in the Brookside/Trinity buildings for pastoral respite.
  7. Exhibiting warm hospitality as a host/hostess for the guests in the Pastoral Respite Ministry. Check with guests each day at mealtime to resolver issues and ensure satisfaction.
  8. Ensure refreshments are stocked and available to Spiritual Life guests.

B. Spiritual Life Programming

  1. Support the Director in all programming areas including planning, coordinating and assisting chapel and Vespers services, staff services and support, community outreach, Spiritual Life conferences and Institutes, scheduling Spiritual Direction sessions, administrative duties related to pastoral care (weddings, memorials, baptisms) and other programming duties as assigned. 
  2. In cooperation with Spiritual Life, schedule day and night coverage.
  3. Assist with programming and events promotion through email, articles in The Breeze, social media, and other Spiritual Life points of contact.
  4. Any other duties as assigned.
  5. As a 24-hour operation all staff may be asked to work weekend, evening, or night shifts and/or holidays to serve our members, guests, and program participants. 



Requirements:
  • Excellent administrative and telephone skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HMS software.
  • Exhibit the skills of warm hospitality through the overall operation of the Spiritual Life Department and Pastoral Respite Program.
  •  This position requires the employee to live on campus. Housing and food will be provided at no charge ot the employee.

  • This position requires the employee to live on campus. Housing is provided.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
