Job Description
The Manager Simulation reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Manager of Simulation will have oversight of NM-LFH Simulation Center and responsibilities to create simulation experiences across the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the simulation center at NM Lake Forest Hospital and a standardized simulation program across all hospitals.
  • Oversees the preparation, maintenance, inventory and operation of all simulation equipment/supplies and collaborates with facilitators to design, plan, implement and schedule simulation activities.
  • Ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, program outcomes and current simulation best practice and safety measures across the region.
  • Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation laboratory/center to provide a wide variety of patient simulation experiences including in-situ across the region.
  • Act as the primary contact for scheduling all hospital, university schools, departments and external clients utilizing the simulation center and all hospital resources.
  • Oversee the regular maintenance and repair all simulation equipment, including: Human patient simulators (HPS), computers, monitors and a variety of clinical medical equipment. Audiovisual and debriefing systems and surgical simulators. Virtual reality laboratory computers and other equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with manufactures regarding maintenance, repair, update and technology changes. Coordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed.
  • Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including: beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment.
  • Organize and restock simulation laboratory supplies.
  • Oversee the set up and take down of simulation laboratory equipment allowing for rapid turnover of simulation lab set up as necessary.
  • Monitor and prepare simulation and simulation laboratory budgets and business plans.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment and supply purchase anticipating future changes in technology.
  • Maintain laboratory to meet regulation and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with facilitators from the following departments (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and EMT, and other).
  • Incorporate best practice and evidenced-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of curricula for healthcare simulation training programs. This includes development of simulation component for staff and student competency training.
  • Participate in nursing department meetings to assist with development and implementation of simulation experiences.
  • Create and implement educational programs for new simulation facilitators including pre-briefing, simulation and debriefing across the region.
  • Hire, train and schedule Standardized Patients for regional utilization.
  • Coordinates NM-LFH simulation center tours.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Master's degree
  • Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare related field such as Nurse, EMT, paramedic, or other allied health profession certification and training
  • Minimum two years' experience in healthcare simulation as an educator or simulation technician.
  • Certification in Simulation as Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) within 3 years of hire via Society for Simulation in Healthcare
