Position Title:
Middle School Boys Basketball Assistant Coach


Reports To:
Athletic and Activities Director


Salary Schedule


Position Summary:
The Middle School Boys Basketball Assistant Coach is responsible for the organization, development, and supervision of a successful boys' basketball program. This includes: 
Fostering student growth, promoting sportsmanship and citizenship, and ensuring alignment with school, league, and state association expectations
Commitment to building a positive and inclusive program culture.
Emphasis on student development beyond competition (leadership, accountability, teamwork)
Alignment with school and district values.






Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and conduct practices, competitions, and/or events
Instruct student participants in fundamental skills, strategy, and safety
Promote academic success and appropriate student conduct
Supervise students at all times during practices, contests, and travel
Maintain compliance with school, district, and state regulations
Communicate effectively with students, parents, administration, and staff
Assist with equipment inventory, care, and budget awareness
Model and enforce sportsmanship and ethical behavior








Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development
Support multi-dimensional participation when appropriate
Assist with skill development (dribbling, shooting, defense)
Support practice planning and game strategy
Work cooperatively, professionally, and positively with other members of the coaching staff
Help supervise athletes during practices and contests
Encourage positive team culture and effort






Qualifications:
Previous coaching or relevant experience preferred
Knowledge of rules, techniques, and strategies of the activity
Ability to work with middle school-aged students
Strong communication and organizational skills
Must meet all district and state certification requirements (CPR, First Aid, coaching certifications, etc.)






Working Conditions:
Seasonal position with evenings, weekends, and travel required
Indoor and/or outdoor environments depending on activity
