John Wetten has a Secretary (Transportation) position beginning in the 2026-2027 school year!

Salary is based on experience as per the Classified Salary Schedule - Level M. Gladstone offers stipends for classified staff based on educational experience.

Job Goal:

Greet visitors and assist in providing sound and smooth running of main office and assist in responding to the needs of students, staff, and parents.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Sound oral and written communication skills.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent documentation.
  3. Sound reading and speaking skills in English.
  4. Emotional and physical stamina to perform the duties assigned to this position.
  5. Ability to exercise tact, patience and courtesy when working with students, staff, parents and the community.
  6. Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.
  7. Knowledge of computers and educational applications.
  8. Experience working with people with disabilities desirable.
  9. Experience in a school setting desirable.
  10. Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
  11. Other qualifications as may be established by the District.
Essential Functions:
  1. Regular attendance and punctuality.
  2. Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors.
  3. Assist in inputting and updating of student information into ESD computer database.
  4. Assist in maintenance of records, reports and files.
  5. Assist in supervision of students at recess and afternoon buses.
  6. Answer telephones, direct calls, and record messages, provide information, and obtain information from callers.
  7. Assist in health room in absence of nurse.
  8. Assist in dispensing student medication.
  9. Assist with photocopying, laminating and other preparation of material requested by staff.
  10. More specific duties may be assigned by the building administrator based on building needs.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. High School diploma with at least one year office experience.
  2. Proficient skills in typing, filing and general operation of standard office equipment.
  3. Proficient in word processing spreadsheet, computers and their applications.
  4. Sound knowledge of basic academic skills (reading, writing, math).
  5. Capable of working with students of varied ages.
  6. Able to communicate with parents by phone, email and in person.
