Job description

Responsibilities

The Ranch and Culinary Assistant provides year-round support across culinary and ranch operations, including food preparation, dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and storeroom organization during peak lodge season (September–March). This position will transition to ranch hand responsibilities (March– August), assisting with property maintenance, landscaping, equipment upkeep, animal feeding programs, and general ranch operations to ensure smooth and efficient lodge and ranch management.

Responsibilities:

  • Chef Assistant (September – Mid-March)
  • Wash dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
  • Assist with food preparation; Weigh, measure, wash, peel, cut, grind, bread, stir and/or strain vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, seafood, soups, sauces, and other foods.
  • Stack firewood and clean outdoor areas, including chairs, tables, and walkways; Clean kitchen equipment, floors, and BBQ pits.
  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations by properly storing food at required temperatures, maintaining a clean and organized storeroom, keeping work areas, equipment, and utensils in sanitary condition, and appropriately segregating and disposing of waste.
  • Ranch Hand (Mid-March – End of August)
  • Maintain grounds, including landscaping, fence, and gate repairs.
  • Perform monthly maintenance and safety tasks, including changing filters, checking fire extinguishers, and completing property checklists.
  • Assist in animal care, fill wildlife feeders, and clean water troughs across the property; Maintain hay and feed storage and prepare for seasonal changes.
  • Assist with general ranch cleanup, including moving pipes, equipment, and scrap metal.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma is preferred.
  • Culinary experience is preferred.
  • Grounds keeping and ranch maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience operating landscaping and ranch equipment.
  • Consideration is given to relevant experience and related certification.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required, along with a driving record that meets the requirements of the company’s insurance provider.
