Job description

As an Assistant Vice President within the U.S. Proposals Management team within State Street Investment Management Client Coverage Group (CCG), you will take an active role in the business development process, with responsibility for managing the end-to end process of creating accurate, high-quality, and compelling requests for proposal, requests for information and due diligence questionnaires for prospective and current institutional clients.

As a Proposal Manager, you will

  • Coordinate and produce high-quality responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) for assigned asset class/es within State Street Investment Management
  • Provide workflow support by scoping, coordinating, and allocating RFP and DDQ requests for assigned asset class(es).
  • Host kickoff calls with Sales and subject matter experts to discuss the scope and background of new RFPs, as well as question assignments, deadlines and the strategy for customizing responses.
  • Gain knowledge of assigned asset class/es to populate questionnaires with appropriate responses from the RFP database and utilize the internal data resources to obtain required data breakouts, fund and strategy performance.
  • Work with subject matter expert teams across the firm to create / review / edit bespoke responses for non-standard questions and to customize standard responses aligned to client requirement.
  • Proofread RFP / RFI / DDQ drafts to make sure the overall narrative ties together and provides a compelling message.
  • Follow-up with subject matter experts, as needed, for further customization.
  • Organize final documents for submission to the client/prospect and verify that all instructions in the questionnaire have been followed.
  • Serve as a resource / mentor for junior members of the Proposals Management Team.
  • Review documents created by peers and junior members to adhere high quality standards and client requirements
  • Respond to one-off requests from our partners within State Street Investment Management.
  • Expand the RFP database library by submitting new responses to the content management team.
  • Build relationships with investment teams through monthly and quarterly meetings.
  • Participate / Collaborate in projects with Proposals Management colleagues for effective project management and improve the efficiency of the Proposals management process.
  • Exposure to Responsive RFP project Management tool would be added advantage.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-10 years' experience in asset management and/or RFP writing
  • Capability to produce high-quality and/or final work product and solutions in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines, including the skill to prioritize and allocate projects and workflow to ensure timely and accurate delivery
  • Understanding of the asset management business, basic financial concepts, and regulations as well as knowledge of various asset classes (e.g., equity and fixed income), different investment products, and market segments
  • Strong project management, analytical thinking, problem solving, research, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Being collaborative by nature with the capability to help others achieve more, working with local and global teams, including the flexibility to work within global deadlines
  • Having knowledge of State Street Investment Management products is preferred
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills with acute attention to detail
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to understand and communicate investment data
  • An ability to form and cultivate positive relationships with internal partners across all levels of the organization
  • An ability to take ownership, initiative and successfully navigate within a demanding and international environment of a leading global financial institution
  • An ability to thrive in a highly regulated environment that demands full compliance with policies and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically MS Word and Excel
  • Graduate or above, preferably a graduate with specialization in finance
  • A positive attitude that motivates and inspires others

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $140,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
