Assistant Project Manager - Civil Construction
Location: Pittsfield, MA or Troy, NY
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of civil construction projects. This role assists with project administration, estimating, bidding, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and documentation while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, and other project stakeholders. The position provides hands-on exposure to all phases of project management with a strong emphasis on civil construction.
Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and administration.
Participate in daily project meetings with internal teams, owners, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
Assist with all phases of the bidding process, including bid solicitation, bid preparation, subcontractor selection, contract administration, and project delivery.
Review project drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to perform quantity takeoffs and estimate material requirements.
Prepare and maintain preconstruction documentation, including project files, drawings, submittals, and photographic records.
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules by monitoring project durations, milestones, and material lead times.
Track project budgets, cost reports, and estimates while supporting cost control efforts.
Prepare subcontract agreements, ensuring appropriate scope inclusions and exclusions.
Calculate and apply asphalt and fuel price adjustments as required.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain updated drawings, specifications, and project information.
Prepare payment applications and assist with project billing and financial reporting.
Review subcontractor insurance documentation and service agreements for compliance.
Perform quantity calculations, including linear footage, square footage, acreage, tonnage, and cubic yards.
Compare bid documents with construction documents to identify discrepancies and assist in preparing change orders and purchase orders.
Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, insurance certificates, payroll documentation, payment records, and other project-related documentation.
Utilize construction management software to support project planning, tracking, reporting, and document management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
Minimum of 2 years of experience using construction management software, including:

Required Skills
Strong organizational and time management skills.
