Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager

Houston, Texas

Melton Electric is hiring Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers in Houston, Texas.

We're looking for motivated professionals who want to manage challenging electrical construction projects while working alongside an experienced team. Whether you're an Assistant Project Manager ready to take the next step or an experienced Project Manager looking for greater responsibility, you'll play a key role in delivering projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Melton Electric is a second-generation, family-owned electrical and structured cabling contractor based in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1969, we specialize in healthcare, commercial, aviation, industrial, and other large-scale construction projects throughout Texas.

We run lean teams, move quickly, and expect our people to take ownership, solve problems, and build strong relationships with our customers and field teams.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final completion
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to define project scope and identify risks
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and field leadership
  • Procure major equipment and subcontractors while managing costs and delivery schedules
  • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and support field operations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and proactively solve project challenges
  • Work closely with estimating during project turnover and throughout construction
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget

Requirements

What We're Looking For
  • Assistant Project Manager: 2+ years of experience supporting electrical construction projects
  • Project Manager: 5+ years of experience managing commercial electrical construction projects
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and project management
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar construction software is preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated professional who takes ownership and follows through
