ABOUT THE ROLE

Alberici is seeking an experienced Project Manager with 5+ years of experience in concrete and formwork construction to support major industrial and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing cast-in-place concrete operations, structural concrete, foundations, reinforcing steel, embeds, and formwork systems within heavy civil, industrial, transit, water/wastewater, manufacturing, or commercial construction environments.

The Project Manager will work closely with field supervision, subcontractors, engineers, clients, and project teams to successfully plan, coordinate, and execute concrete and structural work from preconstruction through project completion. This role requires strong leadership, communication, scheduling, and operational coordination skills in fast-paced construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of concrete and formwork construction activities.
  • Coordinate daily field operations with superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Manage concrete sequencing, pour planning, scheduling, and logistics coordination.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, costs, quantities, and schedule performance.
  • Coordinate reinforcing steel, embeds, formwork systems, and concrete placement activities.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and construction documents.
  • Manage procurement and coordination of concrete materials and temporary works systems.
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with company safety standards and project requirements.
  • Oversee quality control inspections, testing, and project documentation.
  • Identify and resolve constructability, scheduling, and field coordination issues.
  • Support risk management, change management, and project reporting activities.

Management Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project teams, including Project Coordinators, field staff, subcontractors, and project support personnel.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure alignment between project planning and field execution.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused team environment.
  • Assist with onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and development of junior project staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support workforce planning, scheduling, and resource coordination for concrete and formwork operations.
  • Participate in project performance reviews, progress reporting, and project planning activities.
  • Promote accountability, communication, and continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Ensure project teams adhere to company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Support decision-making and problem resolution related to project execution, scheduling, constructability, and coordination activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of concrete construction means and methods, including formwork, shoring, reinforcing steel, and concrete placement.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, sequencing, cost control, and project coordination.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of construction safety requirements and quality control processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills with field operations, subcontractors, engineers, and clients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in concrete, formwork, heavy civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction project management.
  • Experience managing cast-in-place concrete and structural concrete operations.
  • Experience with foundations, walls, slabs, elevated decks, equipment pads, or reinforced concrete structures preferred.
  • Experience with self-perform concrete operations is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working on industrial, water/wastewater, transit, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects is an asset.
  • Knowledge of temporary works, concrete sequencing, and construction logistics preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrationsย 

  • Gold Seal Certification, PMP (Project Management Professional), or related construction management certification is considered an asset.
  • CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, and other applicable site safety certifications preferred.
  • Professional designation such as P.Eng., EIT, CET, or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Training or certification related to concrete construction, formwork systems, rigging, or temporary works is considered an asset.
  • Experience with industry-standard construction software platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or similar systems preferred.
