Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer in Champaign, IL, in this position you will be supporting manufacturing quality, supplier quality, process improvement, and quality system activities to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to drive continuous improvement, reduce quality risks, and support manufacturing excellence.
Compensation for this role is between $80K-$90K + 10% bonus
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate recurring quality issues and lead root cause analysis.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Analyze production data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support efforts to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance process performance.
  • Assist with new production line launches, manufacturing transfers, and validation activities.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and manage supplier corrective actions (SCARs).
  • Support supplier audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Purchasing to strengthen supplier quality and compliance.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
  • Conduct capability studies and recommend process enhancements that improve quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Support Kaizen and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Monitor quality metrics, KPI dashboards, and trend analyses.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports and recommendations to leadership.
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing quality experience.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience supporting audits and quality systems.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • FDA/cGMP knowledge.
  • Validation experience (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • ERP system experience.
