Job description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. As a member of our team, you will operate in a schedule-driven, collaborative environment, interfacing with the client and supporting Project Managers on projects up to $20MM TIC. This position is based on our Ferndale, WA office Tuesday-Thursday with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. The Project Engineer will assist with day‑to‑day project execution activities across the project lifecycle, gaining exposure to engineering, procurement, construction coordination, and project controls while developing core project management skills.

Compensation: $110,000 – 140,000 *anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity. The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.

Work Arrangement: 3 days onsite in Ferndale, WA, 2 days remote *option to work from home Monday and Friday. Every other Friday off.

Core Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements; actively support a zero-incident culture.
  • Apply Eichleay project delivery processes, procedures, and quality standards across all phases of work.
  • Coordinate and integrate activities across engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, internal teams, and overseas engineering partner to support clear communication and timely decision-making.
  • Lead and support internal and external meetings, including preparation of agendas, documentation of meeting minutes, and tracking of action items and decisions.
  • Support development of project deliverables, including scopes of work, decision support packages, cost estimates, schedules, and work orders.
  • Monitor project performance by supporting cost, schedule, forecasting, and change management activities.
  • Identify emerging technical or execution issues and coordinate with project teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, vendor documentation, procurement packages, and construction work packages; track progress by project phase.
  • Support permitting activities, including preparation and submission of regulatory packages.
  • Prepare and distribute routine project reports, presentations, and client communications.
  • Coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support field and construction activities, including site visits and coordination with field teams as required.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge management systems.
  • Utilize project management tools (e.g., Unanet) to support budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and project setup.
  • Assist with project closeout, including documentation, reporting, and turnover requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Accredited four-year Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical field from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years related experience with one (1) year of project management / project engineering experience.
  • Location: 3 days onsite in Ferndale, WA, 2 days remote *option to work from home Monday and Friday. Every other Friday off.
  • Skills:
    • Basic understanding of project execution phases and capital project delivery.
    • Working knowledge project controls, including scheduling, planning, forecasting, estimating, and cost management.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Detail‑oriented with strong follow‑through.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a client‑facing, onsite environment.
    • Understanding of the phase-gate work process for project funding.
  • Travel: Travel to local clients will be required and can be at least one day per week for meetings. Travel outside the area is expected to be minimal, less than 10%
  • Industry Requirements: This role will require all or some of the following requirements at time of hire or during employment
    • HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
    • Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
    • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain. TWIC card must be obtained prior to start date or start date may need to be adjusted.
    • Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
    • Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.

  • Job duties will be performed at a client site, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
