As we continue expanding in the Bellingham market, we are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support our materials testing laboratory. Our current backlog includes several large, multi-year projects, offering long-term stability and meaningful, hands-on project experience.

Duties:

The Laboratory Technician supports daily laboratory operations by performing materials testing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, compliant testing services that contribute to safe and successful construction projects throughout the Bellingham region.

Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, a willingness to learn, and the ability to follow established procedures. Effective communication with laboratory staff, field personnel, and project teams is also important.

  • Assist with laboratory testing of soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, WAQTC, WSDOT, and project-specific requirements
  • Prepare samples and perform basic laboratory tests under the direction of senior technicians or laboratory supervisors
  • Pick up and transport samples in accordance with applicable procedures and safety requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Properly document and report test results
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • This role does require driving to aggregate pits, asphalt plants, and construction sites to pick up samples.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Certifications/Licenses: No certifications are required for this entry-level position. The following certifications are examples of those you may have the opportunity to pursue as you grow in this role:

  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Grade I
  • ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
  • ACI Masonry Testing Technician
  • NICET or equivalent certifications
  • ACI Field Testing Technician – Grade I
