Job description

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

This position organizationally falls under the Kickapoo Child Care Center. Operational hours are Monday through Friday; 5:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. This is a dual duty position of a Safety and Compliance Officer. The purpose of this position is to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and families. The Safety/Compliance Officer will work independently to research, plan, and coordinate State regulations and KCCC policies and procedures. Interact positively and cooperatively as a team member with staff, students, and families. The Safety/Compliance Officer will provide crisis intervention and support services as needed. To coordinate strategies to identify and enforce OKDHS Licensing regulations and KCCC policies. The Compliance Officer ensures the Kickapoo Child Care Center conforms to state regulations and laws. A significant part of the job might involve reviewing documents, work practices, and completed work and identifying areas where changes might be necessary. Compliance officers typically will consult with management on findings and play a lead role in updating training practices or manuals for employees. Incumbent makes sure safety measures meet relevant standards and makes sure documents are prepared properly and submitted on time. The incumbent must be flexible in order to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned by the KCCC Director and protect KCCC property and assets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Tasks are as follows, but not limited to:

  1. Research, identify, plan, and coordinate OKDHS Licensing regulations.
  2. Launches new initiative to secure funding resources and assist with maintaining current regulations to support, develop, and strengthen Kickapoo Child Care Center.
  3. Investigate and resolve incidents involving students, staff, or faculty members.
  4. Collaborate and gather proposal information from KCCC administrators to develop and implement safety plans and procedures.
  5. Assists Program Directors in developing fundable program solutions that meet both regulatory policy and fiscal requirements.
  6. Review, implement KCCC policy and procedures.
  7. Maintain expert knowledge to answer daily inquiries from Staff on a variety of issues, such as proposals, reporting deadlines, requirements, and obligations.
  8. Responsible for responding to any emergencies that may occur on campus.
  9. Provide security at all KCCC events to ensure the safety of staff and families.
  10. Prepare and complete proposals in a timely matter to allow sufficient time for proofing and quality review.
  11. Prepare proposals for Child Care Director approval.
  12. Monitors and tracks due dates for all required reports.
  13. Train employees on requirements that must be met and assist with regulatory processes.
  14. Ensures that the KCCC meets eligibility requirements for licenses and permits.
  15. Consults with Child Care Director on findings and play a lead role in updating training practices or manuals for employees.
  16. Reviews documents, work practices, and completed work and identify areas where changes might be necessary.
  17. Will assist in classroom when needed.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be self-motivated and be able to work with little or no supervision. A supervisor will make periodic visual inspections of the assigned areas, as well as accepting reports from other staff members.

Prompt and daily attendance is of utmost importance; failure to be on the job not only disrupts the smooth functioning of the employee’s own job but also inconveniences the other interrelated jobs. The success of an employee depends in large measure on how well the job is done each day.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

  Education and Experience: 

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Some additional training and certification in law enforcement or security may be required.

  • Ability to use an integrated software system and Microsoft applications.

Ability to identify discrepancies or inaccuracies in data and make corrections.

At-Will Employer                                             

In reference to Personnel Policy, Section 1-24, Employment At-Will.  All employees who do not have a written contract with the employer for a specific fixed term of employment are thereby employed at the will of the employer for an indefinite period. Employment with the Kickapoo Tribe, without a written contract, is voluntary and therefore employees are free to resign at any time with or without cause or reason. Likewise, the Tribe may terminate the employment relationship at any time with or without notice and for any lawful reason deemed appropriate by the Tribe for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all.  This policy is commonly referred to as “employment-at-will.”
