Job description

We are looking for a Medical Assistant to play a crucial role in collaborating with our providers, sonographers, billers and front desk staff to facilitate patient care. This will include obtaining vital signs and pertinent patient history while rooming patients, check-in/check-out, processing and scheduling referrals, and chart preparation.

The High Risk Pregnancy Center of Kansas City is a privately owned Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist with referrals from 17 counties throughout Kansas and Missouri. Patients and obstetrical providers rely on our office to treat expecting mothers who have pre-existing medical conditions prior to pregnancy and care for the health of the fetus through the performance of ultrasounds.
Front Office Duties and Responsibilities
  • Professional verbal and written communication with patients, staff, and referring offices
  • Processing referrals and scheduling with appropriate indications and protocols
  • Provide explanation and collect payments
  • Other administrative duties as directed

Clinical/Back Office Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepping charts and preparing patients for their appointment
  • Administer/Order medications as directed and work with pharmacists to ensure appropriate medications and dosing
  • Providing patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and follow up as recommended by the provider
  • Facilitate scheduling to optimize clinical workflow

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training
  • At least one year's relevant experience and/or training in a medical office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to obtain and record vital signs
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking while multi-tasking and collaborating with patients, providers, staff and referring offices.
