Job description

Seeking a dynamic BE/BC Cardiothoracic Surgeon to help grow grow an Integrated Cardiovascular Service Line. We are seeking an individual who is an innovator and wants to make this a regional destination for Complex Cardiothoracic Surgery!

  • Clinical Responsibility for adult cardiac, thoracic, and minimally invasive robotic surgery . On and Off-Pump CABG, Mitral Repair, arrhythmia surgery, as well as endovascular and open aortic surgery including dissection repair.
  • Perform a broad spectrum of thoracic surgical procedures, including minimally invasive lung resections, transhiatal esophagectomy, and complex anti-reflux procedures.
  • Academic Clinical leadership through the Florida State University College of Medicine in research aimed at advancing cardiothoracic surgery techniques and knowledge, as well as contributing to the instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows.

  • Practice, ER and Hospital Call: 1:4
  • 5 APRNS on the team for support
  • Practice is open M-F from 8-5.
  • Cardiology composition includes:
    • 5 Interventional Cardiologists
    • 8 Non-invasive/imaging Cardiologists
    • 3 Electrophysiologists
    • 3 Vascular Surgeons

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic & Teaching Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine, delivering lectures, clinical instruction, and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows.
    • Develop and update educational content and curricula related to cardiothoracic surgery.
    • Participate in academic committees and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the surgical training program.
  • Research & Innovation:
    • Lead and participate in clinical research projects aimed at advancing cardiothoracic surgery techniques and improving patient outcomes.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
    • Secure external research funding and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to drive innovation in surgical practice and technology.
