The Department of Engineering in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Transportation at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Computer Engineering starting Fall 2026.
Position and Duties include:
South Carolina State University, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the newly established undergraduate Computer Engineering program. The selected candidate will be expected to perform the following functions namely: Develop and teach courses in the Computer Engineering program, develop and conduct lab experiments in Computer Engineering, conduct research and engage in scholarly activities, seek extramural funding, advise students, supervise student projects, publish, attend professional meetings, conduct assessments in accordance with ABET guidelines, engage in continuous improvement and so on. The successful candidate will also be required to engage in service within and outside the university.
Minimum/Required Qualifications.
  • Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field in Engineering prior to the start date.
  • Demonstrated ability or significant potential for teaching excellence.
  • Experience in developing and teaching Computer Engineering courses and labs/Experiments.
  • Extensive experience in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or C++
  • Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.

Preference: Special preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching a wide range of courses.
  • Experience in academic planning, curriculum Development and ABET Accreditation matters.
  • History of securing external funding.
  • History of scholarly publications
  • Proven experience in dealing with a variety of students.
  • Industrial Experience.
