Job description

Assistant Professor of Instruction – College of Nursing

Current Xavier University employees must apply to the internal career site by logging into Workday. The College of Nursing (CN) at Xavier University is seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated candidate for a full‑time, nontenure‑track faculty position (Assistant Professor of Instruction) to teach in our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The CN programs include BSN, second‑degree accelerated MSN (MIDAS), MSN Education, Forensics, FNP, PMHNP, AGPCNP, and DNP programs, as well as a variety of post‑master’s certificates.

Responsibilities
  • Teach across undergraduate and graduate programs, including online MSN and DNP graduate courses.
  • Develop and evaluate curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, test construction, and assessment of students’ learning.
  • Establish effective coordinating relationships with co‑workers and clinical agencies.
  • Participate in nursing scholarly work, professional development, student academic advising and guidance.
  • Engage in appropriate program, college, and university activities and committees.
Qualifications
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Ohio or eligibility to be licensed in Ohio.
  • A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field (required for teaching in the graduate programs).
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse in a specialty area (pediatrics preferred).
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in an accredited program in a content‑specialty area (preferred).
  • Teaching experience in online instruction is desired.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, methods of teaching, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.
