Description
The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MCP) Program, delivered through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and supported by the School of Sciences and Health and at Elizabethtown College, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning in August 2027 and renewable annually.
The Elizabethtown College MCP Program seeks to prepare highly skilled mental health practitioners who integrate evidence-based practices and multicultural competencies in varied practice settings. We seek a faculty colleague who can help us achieve this mission and contribute actively to the development and growth of this program. Job Duties
This role includes teaching, advising, and service responsibilities. The Assistant Teaching Professor will generally teach four graduate-level courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, involving a combination of synchronous online and in-person instruction, along with some asynchronous online instruction. MCP courses are typically offered in the evenings. The teaching load will include both foundational and advanced courses, such as Social and Cultural Foundations of Practice, Group Therapy, Psychopathology, Lifespan Development, and Trauma-Informed Practices. The area of specialization is open. The candidate will advise graduate students and contribute to departmental and institutional service and initiatives, including program admissions efforts and activities that support program accreditation. The candidate will also engage in ongoing professional development, such as holding membership in and contributing to relevant professional organizations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high-quality inclusive teaching and mentoring, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to collaboration.
A graduate degree (Master's or Doctoral level) in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Education, or a closely related discipline is required. Ideally, the candidate will be licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania. Candidates who expect to complete their degree by August 2027 will be reviewed.

  • The teaching statement should detail a philosophy of teaching and emphasize strategies you will use to engage students in an inclusive classroom; you are also welcome to speak to your approach towards clinical supervision and/or supporting the development of clinicians-in-training.
