In the era of Accelerated Computing, data center bottlenecks are no longer limited to compute performance, but rather the system's interconnect bandwidth, memory bandwidth, and memory capacity. Photonic Fabric is the next-generation interconnect technology that delivers a tenfold increase in performance and energy efficiency compared to competing solutions

What You Can Expect

  • Be the key driver of the end-to-end development of Celestial's external light source technology, from concept to volume manufacturing.
  • Responsibilities would include full life-cycle support of the light sources, from initial design selection/development, procurement and full characterization to reliability qualification and production release.
  • Act as the main point of contact with various vendors to enable the completion of all the above milestones, and also resolve any performance/yield/supply issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with systems, packaging, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Also contribute to the development of other external optical components and fiber sub-assemblies used in Celestial products

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 10-15 years of related professional experience OR Master's degree and/or
    PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 5-10 years of experience.
  • Strong experience working with semiconductor DFB laser diodes. A clear grasp of laser physics and fundamentals is required.
  • Strong experience with laser assembly and packaging techniques for data-center environments
  • Prior experience with vendor engagements for component procurement is required
  • Experience running reliability assessment and qualification programs for optical components in general, and lasers in particular.
  • Experience designing and working with fiber-optic and integrated-optics components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes for integrating external components into Silicon photonics/integrated-optics products.
  • Experience with setting up test stations for laser characterization and familiarity with standard test equipment (OSAs, reflectometers, PWMs etc).
  • Experience with free-space design software (Zemax, Code-V)
  • Ability to collect and analyze large datasets (i.e. experience with JMP, DataConductor or similar data analysis tools)
  • Familiarity with Silicon Photonics systems is a plus.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

158,600 - 237,600, $ per annum

The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
