JOB DESCRIPTION- PART TIME

The Assistant Building Manager oversees and maintains the Aerobics center, opens and/or closes the facility, supervises student workers, assists with the coordination of weekend events, and ensures the comfort and safety of all patrons.

(1) 1st Shift position available (1) 2nd Shift position available

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees facility while on duty and ensures safety and security of Aerobics Center staff and patrons.
  • Makes periodic rounds checking to be certain those using the facility have proper authorization. Confront any questionable situations.
  • Keeps side doors closed and periodically checks them. Reports any problems to the Director and/or ORU Security to handle. Does not engage a potentially dangerous person.
  • Keeps all areas not requisitioned locked, and all equipment not in use secure.
  • Assists patrons with equipment needs; access to rooms, etc. based on the class schedule or requisition sheets.
  • Assists with coordinating of events such as Recreational, Community events, Soccer games and Special Events.
  • Assists with keeping the Aerobics Center clean and organized.
  • Provides supervision of the Aerobics Center facilities including making sure the building and swimming pool is staffed by student workers and oversees all activities within the building.
  • Enforces all building policies and adherence to the same. Ensures student workers are aware of and follow all policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred but not required: HPER/Recreation, HES, Public Health.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Current Adult CPR & Safety & First Aid certification is required during the first initial 90 days.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Prefer one (1) year of applicable experience in a Fitness Center/Recreation Center, facility management, recreational programming, etc. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to ascertain and understand facility operations and related problems and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Must be able to make decisions and act effectively in stressful situations. Must be able to work under stress, adapt quickly to changing situations, and meet last-minute demands effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Familiarity is needed with Microsoft Word and Excel in order to enter data into reports and department records.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
