Job Summary

Champions Group Holdings is a fast-growing Heating and Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical Home Services Company, and we are looking to add a key leadership member to our Payroll Dept. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all payroll operations while actively processing payroll as part of the daily workload. This role blends leadership and hands‑on execution, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across the organization. The Payroll Supervisor provides expertise in compliance, system management, process improvement, and employee support, while guiding and developing payroll staff. Knowledge of time entry, bonus calculations, commissions, piece-rate work, and payroll processing are key requirements for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the Company’s payroll system, ADP Workforce Now, to process full‑cycle payroll for multi‑state or multi‑entity environments.
  • Process payroll with various pay types, including piece-rate work, commissions, and bonuses.
  • Validate timecards, deductions, earnings, and pay adjustments with strong attention to detail.
  • Daily processing of manual checks for payroll adjustments and terminations
  • Lead the payroll team while maintaining an active processing workload.
  • Review payroll audit reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll deadlines as well as federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Oversee quarterly and year‑end payroll activities.
  • Supervise and train payroll staff on the payroll process as well as compliance-related topics.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT on payroll-related workflows and systems.
  • Prepare payroll reports and analytics for leadership.
  • Stay up to date on payroll laws and compliance.
  • Hold meetings that will train field and on-site staff to develop skills and to inform of any new processes or wage compliance laws.
  • Assist in document retrieval for audits that are financial, worker compensation, general liability, and 401k related.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate’s or BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive payroll experience handling commission and piece rate/piece work calculations.
  • Experience with regular rate of pay calculations across multiple state environments highly preferred.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Able to complete and submit payroll with high accuracy and limited supervision.
  • Hands‑on experience with multi-state payroll and garnishments.
  • Proficiency with major payroll systems. (ADP Workforce Now a plus).
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting variances between pay periods totals and other similar analytical tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple payroll deadlines and tasks simultaneously.
  • Experienced in Excel, including utilization of pivot tables, validation formulas, and other calculations.

Work Environment

This position operates in an office environment and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Frequently operates a computer and other standard office equipment. Occasionally moves items up to 20 pounds. Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information with internal and external stakeholders is required. Must be able to work under centrally controlled fluorescent lighting.
