Scope of the Position 

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing day to day operations of Warehouse as well as Counter and Order Desk (Inside Sales). The Operations Manager is also responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Oversees day to day operations of Warehouse, Counter and Order Desk (Inside Sales) approximately 10 people. 

  • Manage Customer relationships by understanding expectations and working consistently to achieve them 

  • Overseeing customer service functions of the Order Desk (Inside Sales) and Counter associates, approximately 4 people. 

  • Maintain facility, equipment, inventory, support equipment and tooling in a safe and efficient manner. 

  • Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment to ensure compliance with Federal Legislation & Provincial. 

  • Maintain stock levels and notifies the Purchasing Department of obsolete or slow moving stock for disposal 

  • Oversees the staff and ensures stock is rotate carefully and efficiently. 

  • Maintain a neat and efficient operation within the budgetary limits set by management and promote a harmonious relationship between those employees supervised by the Warehouse Manager and others of the company. 

  • Conduct yearly reviews. 

  • Maintain confidentiality of company records. 

  • New duties may be added to this description with proper explanation at any time. 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Experience working in the electrical industry 

  • 3+ years' experience managing wholesale distribution operations 

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Ability to operate under time pressure, co-ordinate staff and organize work schedules 

  • A high level of motivation, self-management, and effective interpersonal skills 

  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge: Familiar with Microsoft office and inventory systems. 

  • Good housekeeping habits 

  • Interviewing experience and evaluation experience 

  • Excellent record keeping, accuracy and timeliness.
