Job description

Tri-City Group is currently seeking a Payroll Assistant for its Davenport, IA office. The Payroll Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. Key responsibilities include collecting timesheets, entering data into payroll systems, and calculating wages, deductions, and taxes. This position also involves maintaining confidential employee records, resolving payroll discrepancies, and assisting with HR-related tasks, including onboarding, company payroll calculations, and payroll data collection and entry.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Payroll Processing: Assist with weekly payroll duties, including data entry, calculation of overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Verification: Review timesheets and attendance records for accuracy.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related questions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Reporting: Assist in generating payroll reports and help prepare for audits or year-end tax filings (such as W-2s).

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma required; a degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of previous payroll experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and payroll software.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and high integrity in handling confidential information.
