Job Title: Wire Mill Operator | NO INTERVIEW - ONLY WALKTHROUGH! Pay: $21.63 - $24.72/hour Job DescriptionThe Wire Mill Operator loads raw wire into production machines, initiates machine cycles, and unloads finished parts in a highly repetitive, fast-paced job shop environment. This role supports daily shop operations by running multiple machines at once, assisting other departments as needed, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The operator monitors product quality from start to finish, makes basic adjustments to equipment, and helps ensure that all finished wire is properly labeled and stored for accurate tracking.
Responsibilities
- Load pieces of wire into machines, start the machine cycle by operating control buttons, and safely unload finished parts.
- Run multiple machines at the same time while maintaining attention to quality and safety.
- Work with a wide variety of materials, including different types of metals, in a job shop environment.
- Support the day-to-day functions of the shop and assist other departments as needed.
- Monitor product quality throughout the entire process from start to finish and make basic adjustments as needed to maintain standards.
- Label and store completed wire with Heat number, Purchase Order, and Batch number to ensure accurate product tracking.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to keep machines in good working condition.
- Keep the work area clean and organized by sweeping, picking up trash, and assisting with general shop upkeep during downtime.
- Perform miscellaneous shop duties as required to support overall production operations.
- Maintain a positive and professional image while working as part of a team-oriented environment.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate production machinery.
- Ability to use basic measurement tools such as a tape measure.
- Machine operating experience or strong interest in machine operation in a production setting.
- Capability to perform repetitive loading and unloading tasks safely and efficiently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties.
- Comfort with standing throughout the entire shift.
- Willingness to work in a loud, hands-on machine shop environment while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop housekeeping standards.
- Reliability and willingness to perform miscellaneous shop duties as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with wire splicing is preferred but not required.
- Comfort working with different types of metals in a job shop environment.
- Openness to cross-training in multiple areas of the shop.
- Ability to maintain a positive image for the company and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled machine shop environment where you will work around production machinery and various metals. You must be comfortable working in a loud setting while wearing proper PPE and be willing to get your hands dirty as part of daily tasks. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code. The position is on 2nd shift, working Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with a shift differential, and requires training on 1st shift for approximately two months, with some flexibility in the training schedule.
