About the Role

Were looking for a Sheet Metal Apprentice that will support experienced mechanics with the fabrication and installation of ductwork and sheet metal components for commercial MEP projects. This role provides hands-on training in fabrication, installation, and material handling while developing foundational sheet metal trade skills. The Sheet Metal Apprentice assists both shop and field operations while participating in apprenticeship training and learning the fundamentals of ductwork systems and fabrication techniques.


Core Responsibilities

  • Fabrication and Installation Support
    • Assist with measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing sheet metal ductwork and fittings.
    • Support fabrication activities in the shop and installation activities in the field.
    • Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
    • Assist with positioning and securing ductwork during installation.


  • Material Handling and Jobsite Support
    • Assist with loading, unloading, and staging materials and equipment.
    • Prepare materials for fabrication and installation.
    • Maintain organized work areas in both shop and field environments.
    • Ensure tools and materials are stored safely and properly.


  • Safety and Compliance
    • Follow all company safety policies and jobsite safety procedures.
    • Use personal protective equipment while performing fabrication and installation work.
    • Maintain safe work practices when working at heights or around mechanical equipment.
    • Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors.


  • Training and Skill Development
    • Participate in apprenticeship training programs for the sheet metal trade.
    • Develop understanding of duct systems, airflow components, and fabrication processes.
    • Learn proper use of fabrication tools and installation equipment.
    • Build skills required to advance to sheet metal mechanic or journeyman roles.


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a plumbing apprenticeship program required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or outdoor environments required.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred.
