Position Overview:
The Senior Assistant Merchant is responsible for supporting the Merchant or Sr. Merchant in creation and execution of omni-channel product strategy and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure execution that drives sales and margin aligned with the company's targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Business and Strategy
  • Participates in the development of seasonal objectives for department by coordinating with cross-functional partners
  • Develops seasonal line plans to architect assortment that aligns with the company's financial goals and needs of the business, including but not limited to pyramid and Average Unit Cost (AUC)
  • Has fundamental working knowledge of financial reports and utilizes them to analyze business and provide strategic reaction plans to the Merchant or Sr. Merchant

Product
  • Collaborates to build compelling assortments that drive sales and margin goals while delighting the customer
  • Has full understanding of Product Life Cycle and its deliverables
  • Assists Merchant or Sr. Merchant to create seasonal testing strategies
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to deliver consistency in execution of great profitable product that upholds our value proposition
  • Audit the site to ensure all content is correct so it is accurately depicted to the customer

Collaboration & Development
  • Works with driving cross-functional communication and motivating the team to be customer-focused, innovative, fast and team-oriented
  • Works closely with the merchandise coordinator on data entry and product information to ensure accuracy for associate/customer facing materials in all channels and accuracy of reporting
  • Acts a key omni channel liaison between design, technical design, sourcing, planning, allocation, site, and marketing partners
  • Exhibits company values and leadership principles

Education/Skills and Experience Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in business, retail merchandising, or fashion merchandising

Experience:
  • 1-4 years in merchant roles

  • Proficient in conflict management and problem solving
  • Intimate understanding of competition, target customer, and brand specific fashion trends

Annual Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00
This position is eligible for an annual incentive compensation based on company performance.
