Description
Mid-level Marine Engineer with practical shipboard experience and working knowledge of T-AO 187 Class vessels' systems and operational characteristics. Must possess solid understanding of ship systems and machinery installed aboard the T-AO 187 Class. The ideal candidate will apply their operational knowledge to support projects, providing valuable industrial and operational insights specific to these vessels. Demonstrates working knowledge of reviewing technical manuals and operational procedures for key systems of the T-AO Class. Works as part of engineering teams to review specifications, conduct analyses, and evaluate proposed modifications. Develops technical documentation including operational manuals and specifications that incorporate practical shipboard experience to support vessel performance and reliability.
Job Description
CACI is seeking a mid-level engineer to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Structural engineers and Naval Architects. You will support the T-AO Class Outyear Engineering Requirements Assessment (OERA) as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
What You'll Get to Do:
Provide Systems engineering support for in-service and new vessel design, primarily the T-AO 187 Class.
Provide support to shipboard engineering systems.
Work with stakeholders.
Use, maintain, and improve document authoring and drafting practices and tools to develop reports, manuals, and drawings with high efficiency and accuracy.
Assist team to carryout Outyear Engineering Requirements for various class of ships including T-A0 187 Class-Double Hull.
Design and develop fluid systems using design software such as PipeFLO and spreadsheet calculations
Design and develop interfaces between ship systems and new equipment
Author and develop design reports to accompany in-service modifications to ship systems
Develop advanced proficiency in 2D drafting practices to improve in-service modification
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
BSME in Marine Engineering
Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience working with ship machinery and systems ideally on the T-AO 187 Class vessels.
Ability to write concise reports and specifications in English with minimal oversight in MS Word making use of features such as styles, fields, and references.
Proven track record in ship design, modification, or maintenance projects
Proficiency in MS Excel and Powerpoint
Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.
Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and Project Managers
Ability to review and apply US Navy and/or US commercial ship design requirements, including DOD acquisition, system safety, and testing processes
Good verbal (English) communication skills
Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to Obtain a Clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active USCG Coastguard License 3AE Unlimited Horsepower or Greater
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
Shipboard and/or shipyard design, operation, or repair experience
Engineering and Technical Authority (E&TA) Familiarization training
Apply working knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards to ensure compliance
Conduct risk assessments and develop risk reduction strategies for shipboard systems, with emphasis on propulsion, power generation, and mission-critical equipment.
Provide technical support for in-service vessels throughout their lifecycle, leveraging past industrial and operational experience to solve complex engineering challenges
