Job description

Position:                        Math Teacher

Location:                       Milford Central Academy

Reports To:                   Principal/Assistant Principal

Starting Date:               August 2026

Note: All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. While this opening is currently at the building(s) listed above, final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.

Position Summary: The Math Teacher designs and delivers standards-aligned instruction that develops mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and positive learning habits for all students. This role creates an inclusive, student-centered classroom where high expectations, formative assessment, and data-informed instruction guide daily practice. The teacher plans engaging lessons that differentiate for varied learning needs, integrates real-world applications to deepen conceptual understanding, and fosters students' social and emotional growth. Strong communication and collaboration with colleagues, families, and school leaders support continuous improvement of instruction and student outcomes. The Math Teacher also contributes to schoolwide initiatives, participates in professional learning, and maintains a safe, respectful classroom environment.

Qualifications: 

  • Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified as Middle Level Mathematics Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. 1532 and/or Secondary Mathematics Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. 1542

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Continuously improve practice and strive to implement the most up-to-date and effective teaching strategies.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
  • Make provision for being available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Accept a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their families concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
  • Participate in professional growth activities and professional learning communities.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Terms of Employment:  Ten-month (10) full-time employee.
