Title
Graduate Assistant - Mathematics
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Overview/ResponsibilitiesThe mathematics department seeks a graduate assistant to help oversee the Math Research Lab and take part in community-building activities within the department.
This includes:
  • Overseeing students' use of DMF 461 and providing support for the computing facilities therein
  • Being available as a resource for undergraduates seeking assistance with course content, particularly in 300 and 400 level mathematics courses
  • Generating graphics for the display screens and aiding in other such endeavors to promote mathematical engagement.
  • Give at least one presentation each year on a topic of interest to math majors in the Department Seminar.
  • Further duties may be assigned as needed in keeping with the general theme of making the Math Research Lab an inviting space for students to gather and discuss mathematics.

The ideal candidate for this Graduate Assistantship position will possess:
  • A strong academic background in mathematics, with coursework in abstract algebra and real analysis.
